Richard Goswiller,
the founding pastor of Cornerstone Christian Church, is
also the founder and director of Living in Christ
Ministries. Although it is closely associated with
Cornerstone, it is an independent ministry through which
Pastor Rich makes available his own writing and resource
materials, and additional Christian literature that is
most helpful for the Christian life. Below you will find
a brief statement of purpose and a statement of
association. You may also go directly to the Living in
Christ Ministries website at
www.licministries.com.
This ministry also features an on-site bookstore.
Although it is small at this point, it is expanding week
by week with additional books that are intended to
provide the best possible quality in Christian
literature available today. There are books from the
writings of Christian men and women, both ancient and
modern. There are sound theological books, helpful
biblical commentaries, stimulating Christian
biographies, challenging daily living works, and much
more. There are both new and used books available.
The store is open whenever church services are being
held, and you may call for information about additional
hours of operation (516) 342-1552.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Making Disciples -- to glorify God by fulfilling the Great
Commission of His Son Jesus Christ.
“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been
given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and making
disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to
observe all things that I have com-manded you; and lo, I am with you
always, even to the end of the age.’ Amen.” (Matt. 28:18-20).
Equipping Saints -- to glorify God by equipping the people of God
for their work of ministry.
“And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some
evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the
saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of
Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the
knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the
stature of the fullness of Christ” (Eph. 4:11-13).
Maturing Christians -- to glorify God by promoting the personal
growth in grace of Christians.
“To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory
of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope
of glory. Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in
all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.
To this end I also labor, striving according to His working which
works in me mightily” (Col. 1:27-29).
STATEMENT OF ASSOCIATION
This ministry shall be informally associated with the Fellowship of
Independent Reformed Evangelicals.
A. Fellowship: We believe that local churches are to work together
and that it is appropriate for them to form associations for that
purpose (Acts 15:1-35: 2 Cor. 8; Gal. 1:2,22; Col. 4:13-18).
Associational fellowship should not become a burden which restricts
ministry, but a help and encouragement which facilitates greater
ministry among churches who share mutual respect, love and
acceptance.
B. Independent: We believe that the local church is appointed by God
to carry out the work of the Kingdom in this age (1 Tim. 3:15; Mt.
16:18,19). We do not believe that church councils or groups of
churches have authority over local churches.
C. Reformed: We affirm the five “Solas” of the Reformation: Sola
Scriptura, Sola Gratia, Sola Fide, Solus Christus, and Soli Deo
Gloria. We stand in the tradition of the historic Reformed
Confessions of Faith such as The London Baptist Confession of 1644
and The Second London Baptist Confession of 1689.
D. Evangelicals: We believe that men are by nature lost and
hell-bound. They must be born again and receive forgiveness of their
sins through faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. |
